Condition: Very Good in Very Good Minus jacket
Notes: An early book of Joyce criticism; Charles Duff (1894-1966) notably resigned from his career at the Foreign Office due to its support for Spanish fascism (yes, Wikipedia). This is a Very Good copy of the First Edition. Includes a Prefatory Letter by Herbert Read. Green cloth binding with gilt spine lettering. Showing a bit of rub at the margins; mildly bumped; spine has faded, though the lettering is still clear. 75 pages (with Appendix). Clean text, with some pages unopened. Previous-owner period signature to the front paste-down. The dustwrapper, illustrated with a sketch of Joyce, is Very Good (Minus). It is complete but has been price-clipped. There is a stain affecting Mr. Joyce's right ear, a chip to the front panel in the lower corner, and chips at the head and foot of the spine, which has darkened (still quite readable). In an archival plastic protector. Size: 12mo-over 6¾"-7¾" tall.
