Excerpt from Some Theological Works

All the chapters in this little volume have appeared in the pages of The Commonwealth in 1918. My first wish after Canon Holland's death was to provide for the paper which he had edited through so many years some fitting record of his life in its manifold aspects. Naturally I drew upon some of his own familiar friends - a somewhat in vidions task Where familiar friends were so many and so true. So, here is the gathered result of the most kindly response to my invitation. Though bearing the marks of brevity and compression, as was inevitable seeing that they were written for a monthly magazine of limited dimensions, these chapters seemed too good not to be brought together in a more permanent form. Not everyone reads Commonwealth!
